Prague is the Czech Republic's largest city and capital, the 14th largest in the European Union. Prague is located in the mid-west of the Czech Republic. The country is centrally located in Europe and borders to Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria.
Today, Prague is especially known for its beautiful and impressive buildings, which represent all styles and dominions. The city is divided into different areas: the Old Town (from the 13th century), the New Town (from the 14th century) and the Jewish Quarter. "Hradcany" with its cathedrals and castle grounds has been the seat of kings, emperors and presidents since the 9th century. The city's old center is today a protected historical area.
